Hi Sandra -

I’m having a curious problem with my Gravatar — I followed the steps in the video and associated a picture with my email address, but when I check the comments I have added here at Coaching Commons, instead of my picture, I see the logo for Gravatar.com.

I went back to Gravatar and double checked everything — it seems to be set up properly.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Kathy

P.S. Good job on the video, by the way.

Hi Kathy,

I see what you mean. I did a check on your gravatar by entering your email address on the test on http://site.gravatar.com/support/check. It does appear as though there is a problem with your Gravatar. Try the following to fix the problem:

1) log back into your account : http://site.gravatar.com
2) make sure there is a photo beside your email address- http://site.gravatar.com/emails
3) a) if there isn’t a photo beside your email address, click on the photo you added (it should appear below) and click ok.
b) if there is a photo beside your email address click “Remove the gravatar from this email address”, then click on your photo again to confirm it.

Let me know if this helps!
Sandra

Hi Sandy -

It was a problem with the picture format — I was using a GIF image. I converted it to a JPG and it seems to be working fine now.

Thanks for your help!

A couple of tips for those who are struggling with their Gravatars.

1) Check that the email address you set up on Gravatar.com is the same one you are using on the Coaching Commons comment form.

2) Email addresses seem to be case sensitive, so be careful that you use the same case…I suggest keeping both the email at Gravatar and the emails in the comment forms in lower case to keep it consistent.

3) When you log into Gravatar do you see a picture beside your email? If not you must click on your photo and choose “ok”, to confirm that this is the picture you want displayed.

I seem to have successfully loaded my photo as it appears next to my contact information on the gravatar website. however, when I went back to the Coaching Commons comments, my photo does not appear next to my comment. Does it take a while to take effect?

Other thoughts?
Janet
