While scanning media for The Chronicle of Coaching, I found this straight-forward, concise, clever article, “10 Questions to Find Out if You Suck at Wealth Management,” from leadership coach, John McKee. This article actually made me feel BETTER, unlike the gloom and doom media of the past few months.
It’s refreshing to know that business leaders and managers often don’t know how to build personal wealth any more than the average person does. (And we’ve all discovered that many financial EXPERTS have proven themselves dismally inept, greedy and/or untrustworthy at managing the money of others.)
McKee explains in simple terms three areas of life that deserve your attention which includes your financial life. Even if everything in life seems to be moving along successfully, if the financial piece goes unobserved or unplanned, frustration and disappointment can undermine your happiness.
Feeling fairly competent in the money management area of my life, I took the quiz.
GULP. I came in between a 5 and a 6 (out of 10).
Not great and not bad. And I certainly gained a better understanding of where my personal financial planning and money management need attention.
So coaches, do you routinely include the financial piece in your life balance coaching conversations?
