The Chronicle of Coaching – News of the Week – February 19, 2009

Editor’s Note: An old German proverb says ‚ÄúCharity sees the need, not the cause.” This week’s chronicle is about coaches recognizing the need. The New York Times reviews a new TV show designed to coach others on their love life. A UK life coach tries to help a reality TV star battle cancer, while another coach helps herself by writing a thank you letter to her heart. With layoffs looming large in the United States, an office coach tries to help a doctor regain his old job. Single and looking for love? One coach recommends learning to love yourself. This week, recognize the need, then give or find help.

The Chronicle of Coaching provides a snapshot of what’s happening in the coaching profession, designed to show where and how coaching appears in the popular culture worldwide. It is not intended to be a summary service nor a news roundup, although it may serve that purpose for some readers. The Chronicle is new each Thursday morning. Compiled and edited by Alex Goldsmith and Linda Ballew.
