Anyone taping or videotaping?

When I work as a therapist, I videotape some of my sessions. This has been helpful for for my own learning (self-review and supervision) and has been helpful for some clients, who have watched DVDs of their sessions. In other settings, videotapes and audiotapes have been extremely helpful for researching what appears to be most helpful for clients (and what appears to be not helpful, in some cases).

So, I’m wondering if there are any coaches reading this who have tried videotaping or audiotaping and what your experience has been. Presumably, your clients have signed consent forms, so there has been a discussion about the taping.

Does anyone think that there are reasons why coaching clients would be less likely to agree to taping than therapy clients, or why using tapes for learning and supervision would be less helpful? I’d be interested in those opinions, as well.

Yes!

I just worked with a colleague who tapes participants during a conflict resolution workshop and it was just what I had been considering for a coaching workshop. My plan is to tape the managers in my workshop who are practicing coaching skills. I have used this with other topics, and you are right- the learning is magnified by 10!!

I hope some others will share their experiences….
