When I work with coaches I find many getting overwhelmed with the sheer amount of things it feels like you need to do in order to be successful. After all, we got into coaching in the first place because we love to coach! Yet, as soon as you finish your coach training, (if not before) you start to realise how many other elements you need.
This is because coaching is a business (unless you are aware you are running it as a hobby). To do this, you need to focus on many projects – your coaching itself and preparation for client work, your professional development, enhancing your skills, learning about and using technology, marketing, automating and creating systems. And did I mention time for your life as well?
There is an answer! Part of that answer comes in heightened self awareness… being aware that you are running a business and that all these areas need attention. And you’ll be relieved to know that you don’t need to do it all right now, today. Prioritise your time as a coach by asking yourself what makes the biggest impact or best result. Then start there. Do one step, one project at a time.
Split out your day by focusing on key projects first. Mix them up so you are now learning, now working on your marketing. Know what is out there and know how you decide how you split your time to be most effective. And like athletes, make sure you take time to rest and restore yourself as well.
How has creating a coaching business, and the multiple priorities that entails, impacted you and the way you coach?
Let us know how you keep your focus and how you create time to do what you love – Coaching!
If you’re past this stage in your biz ‚Äö√Ñ√¨ what worked for you that you can share with newer coaches?
