Arizona Republic: Horseback Therapy Promotes Healing

A 1990 incident on the edge of a New Zealand cliff changed Scottsdale resident Dyane Golding’s life.

Golding fell of the cliff accidentally and broke her back. Doctors diagnosed her as a paraplegic, but Golding wouldn’t accept that.

Golding, a certified life coach, has four rescued horses at her hacienda-style ranch in the Rio Verde foothills.

Clients interact with the animals as individuals, couples or groups. Activities generally include problem-solving and “trust” exercises, obstacle courses and one-on-one sessions with the animals. Corporate coaching and team exercises also are popular to hone leadership skills in business settings, Golding said.
