The effects of procrastination on many people is initially to affect their performance at work, then, increasingly, it can produce stress and other related diseases that eventually affect the physical health of some.

Procrastination is a common issue that I encounter when working with solopreneurs and people running small businesses, writes Massimo Gaetani of MaGa Coaching.

Procrastination can be defined as “putting off a pending task because of laziness, lack of interest” or different prioritization about what should be done. Without a precise and well defined mechanism of accountability, we choose tasks we like and keep delaying the ones we like less, and this can become a dangerous habit.

Because I work primarily with adults who have difficulties with time and task management, I help individuals identify whether the task is big, hard, boring, or scary. I also help them nail down a time/deadline.

Some questions I might use to this end.
1. Do you have what you need ready to complete task? If not, what do you need?
2. Is the task actionable or will it require several other preliminary tasks or materials gathered? If so, what are they?
3. Is this a difficult task? Do you need help? What help? Who/what can help you?
4. Is it boring? What incentives would help you get it done?
5. What will getting it done enable or facilitate for you or others?
6. What does the above mean for you? How does that feel?
7. When do you want to do this? (Day/time)
8. What will help you remember?
8. How can I help you fulfill this commitment?
