We used to talk a lot about ‘what would happen when coaching goes mainstream.’ People used to put a lot of effort into imagining what the world would be like when most people knew what a Coach was. When coaching would appear on TV or when coaching began to address deeper social issues. Well the evidence is in – all of the above has happened – have you noticed?

In the Breaking News section of The Coaching Commons, I will be featuring The Chronicle of Coaching. When I began the project of compiling content for the Chronicle 18 months ago, finding articles about coaching was a challenge. Now combing through the mountains of media is the challenge. “Coaching” is the hot word right now, and I am convinced that we are only beginning to see the impact and potential of its reach. If you’ve seen The Chronicle of Coaching, you know what I mean. Now part of The Coaching Commons, the Chronicle will pop up online fresh each Thursday with a snapshot of popular media that rolls off the presses. You’ll find articles about life coaching, executive coaching, coaching specialties that are appearing in the coaching field, coaching blogs, cartoons, books, products and news releases – all neatly tied up in one spot to save reading – and reference – time. There’s also a word- search of the archives for your particular coaching interest. So, have a look. Do you think that coaching is catching on?
