Citizen profile: Patty Vogan helps business people succeed and is involved in local activities such as Monarch Beach Rotary and helping students, seniors and the Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group.

Patty Vogan recently returned from overseas, where she was coaching others about how to become better leaders, professionally as well as personally. No stranger to such a task, Vogan has been coaching for many years.

Here’s a closer look:

Patty Vogan, president of Victory Coaching International and a business coach for Vistage International, also is a member of Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary.

Q. What is your full-time job?

A. I am the president of Victory Coaching International, a leadership development and motivational training company. I am also a business coach for Vistage International. I coach an elite group of CEOs and executives running multimillion-dollar companies. I speak all over the world, and companies gain communication skills they didn’t know possible, and many individuals become great leaders.

What were your career dreams as a kid?

A. I wanted to be a professional photographer. I got my first camera at 12 and it’s been an inspiring hobby ever since.

Q. When did you become interested in coaching and philanthropy?

A. I have been interested in philanthropy since joining Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary International in 1988 and became the first president for the Sand Dollar Guild the same year, which supports the Ocean Institute.

Q. Tell about what you did in China recently.

A. I was launching the World Academy for the Future of Women on SIAS University in the Henon province of Zhengzhou, China. I was with a team of five women launching the yearlong academy. It is a … theme of leadership following through the year. We interviewed 130 young women and accepted 97 into the academy.

Q. What are some of the things you do for the community?

A. Being a past president and current member of Monarch Beach Rotary, I am active in our community events, job shadowing for high school kids, mentoring young college people, assisting our senior-citizen programs and a variety of other beneficial activities. Plus, this year I have gotten involved with the Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group. My view is that is the least I can do for the men and women who are protecting our freedom.

Why do you think your work is important?

A. My coaching work is a true blessing for me. I get to partner with intelligent people who are looking to enhance their lives by growing personally and professionally. The philanthropic side of my life gives me joy, too, regardless of what country I may be visiting.  Read Story.
