Change is good, so they say, but “they” forgot to tell us that change can also be painful – especially if it means complete upheaval and chaos in a career. Few people expect to stick with the same career for their entire working lives, but knowing that change is inevitable doesn’t make the process any easier. Here are a few stories of people who managed to make it through to the other side in one piece.

Amanda L.Esperance formerly worked on Wall Street and is now a fundraiser for a Bay Area non-profit. She said it took her a few years, and several detours, to finally find the right professional fit.
