Editor’s Note: Change has come to The United States of America. Earlier this week, President George W. Bush left office and new President Barack Obama was sworn in. Many feel change coming to the USA, and change is the keyword to this week’s edition of the Chronicle. Changing jobs? The Wall Street Journal has advice from a business coach to help speed up the transition process. The high rate of layoffs in the United States is helping make business coaching a thriving industry. A life coach in Arizona is working with clients who face the prospect of change, while a maternity coach helps women manage the transition from childbirth back into the workforce. Tired of being single and would like to transition to a relationship? One coach has the right conversation starters for that always tricky first date. This week we remember the words uttered over 2600 years ago by the Greek philosopher Heraclitus: ‚Äö√Ñ√∫Nothing endures but change.‚Äö√Ñ√π
The Chronicle of Coaching provides a snapshot of what’s happening in the coaching profession, designed to show where and how coaching appears in the popular culture worldwide. It is not intended to be a summary service nor a news roundup, although it may serve that purpose for some readers. The Chronicle is new each Thursday morning. Compiled and edited by Alex Goldsmith and Linda Ballew.
