Making a New Year’s resolution is easy. It’s the sticking to it that’s tough. We asked Dallas creative life coach Jill Allison Bryan, www.creativeoasiscoaching.com, for help on how we can make it all the way through 2009 without giving up on resolutions. Here are her five tricks for success:

1 Take small steps. Don’t try to tackle that 20-pound weight loss in one day. Break it down into smaller pieces; that way you won’t get overwhelmed with the task at hand, Ms. Bryan says. “Start slowly and build to success.”

2 Visualize success. Take a few minutes, even seconds, daily to see yourself accomplishing your goal. If you want to become a comedian, picture yourself up on stage on open-mike night. “This will help with your intentions and the believability that it will really happen.” If you see yourself crossing the finish line often enough, you’ll make sure you actually cross the finish line.
