The Wall Street Journal: Broke and Almost Famous

The International Association of Financial, Sport and Celebrity Advisers is taking it upon itself to address what it says is an “alarming” number of Americans that file for bankruptcy each year.

The group is starting its quest to save the masses from financial ruin with a one-hour docudrama starring former “Eight is Enough” and “Charles in Charge” star Willie Aames, who filed for bankruptcy protection in 2007. The show, which will air on VH1 next month, will illustrate how the former child star went broke and how, with the help of renowned financial and life coach Sarano Kelley, he can regain financial stability.

The cameras were rolling earlier this year as Aames, who once played costumed hero “Bibleman” and most recently did stints on VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club,” held a two-hour sale of belongings that marked his life. Coach Kelley told The Kansas City Star that the sale was aimed at teaching Aames how to “learn how to let go of the past.”
