Join Abby Straus, host, for her first Uncommon Conversation.

This is a series of virtual get-togethers where we’ll explore (as a group) the subject of building and nurturing the Coaching Commons community (and our own virtual communities as well).

This is an experiment. We don’t know what will happen, but we do know one thing for sure: everyone is welcome!

We’ll be meeting virtually from 7-8 pm EDT on the second Wednesday of the month beginning September 10th. The focus of the first conversation will be the new frontier of community building, Connecting in the Virtual Environment. Where we go from there is up to the group!

Our calls will be hosted by Abby Straus <http://www.abbystraus.com> (our first conundrum…how to share refreshments over the web!) and our first guest will be Siona van Dijk, director of the Gaia social network <http://www.gaia.com/> (she may know the answer). Some questions we’ll ponder:

What does virtual community look/feel like?
How does it expand the more traditional concepts of community, and what are its unique gifts?
How does face-to-face community meet important needs, and can we meet those needs in the virtual environment?
What communication/relationship skills are particularly useful in the virtual environment?
How can we, as coaches, help to foster greater human connection through our virtual (and face-to-face) communities?
