New Politics…..Courage, Discipline, Intelligence, Optimism — Hope in action!

Now it’s time to ready and steady ourselves, gear up to meet the new path just on the horizon?

We elected a new President for the United States on November 4th 2008. What effect will this have in the USA and around the globe? What are the new BIG questions and what is the significant work to do?!

Will coaching have a role in civic engagement and public leadership?

Where does coaching fit in the in the political procecss?

How might the coaching process bring lasting and important change to our political institutions?

Are the politicians living in an alternate universe?

What are the current truths?

How will politicians answer questions openly, clearly, authentically and directly without reverting to the ‘scripted speech’ and memorized mental flashcards?

What are the questions you’re burning to ask? What do you want to debrief, to celebrate?

Join Donna Zajonc, PCC and author of “The Politics of Hope: Reviving the Dream of Democracy” for a thoughtful, provocative look at what’s next for us all post-election in the United States and beyond for domestic and international issues.

Thank you Donna! Brilliant! You are steady, tenacious, provocative, optimistic and always inspiring!

And a heartfelt note of gratitude to each of you who joined today’s rich, historic Uncommon Conversation! What a fine way to begin a journey where we acknowledge expanded and alternate views of government and political processes.

A snippet of our discussion: inclusion, deliberation, dialogue, the meaning of civic engagement, the citizen academy model, our coaching emerging and extablished political leaders and so much more.

As I pondered the experience of this call, I asked myself ‘what will really make a difference, expand my personal capacity?’ as a citizen, as a person who identifies with coaching and cherishes community development. I reminded myself to be consistently visible and accessible, to invite conversation with everyone, especially my friends and fellow citizens who may not be as thrilled with this election’s outcomes.

Let me strike a note for building capacity! What are the crucial conversations you are willing to have to build personal and coaching capacity? With whom are you willing to have those, really?!

I invite you, actually urge you, to listen to the recording of today’s call. Then please return to the Commons — poke me and others into dialogue outside our own craniums!

Looking forward…..Elizabeth
